# Maps and geocoding for AI agents (MCP)

Give your assistant or agent five map tools: geocode, reverse geocode, static map, privacy area map and map setup. It's one remote MCP server, listed in the official MCP Registry, with the same key, caps and storage rights as the REST API.

## What agents do with it

- Clean and geocode a list of addresses, then keep the coordinates in your database.
- Draw a map image for a report, a ticket or a chat reply.
- Show an approximate area for a private address: the privacy tool snaps the point before anything is drawn, so the raw coordinates never appear in the output.
- Write the Leaflet, MapLibre or OpenLayers setup for your app with `map_setup`.

## Why storage rights matter for agents

Agents repeat themselves. If the terms let you keep results, the agent can cache a geocode once and reuse it forever instead of paying for it again. PinSharing's paid plans allow exactly that, and a hard cap means a runaway agent can't run up a bill.

## Questions

**Which assistants work with it?**

Any MCP client that supports remote servers over HTTP, such as Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Gemini CLI. Claude Desktop and other clients that only start local servers can use our open-source stdio bridge.

**Do agent calls cost more?**

No. MCP calls are metered exactly like the REST API: one geocode, or one static image. Listing tools and map_setup are free.

**Can my agent keep what it fetches?**

Yes, on paid plans: images and geocoding results may be stored and reused indefinitely, so an agent can cache lookups instead of repeating them.
