PinSharing vs Stadia Maps
Stadia Maps and PinSharing agree on a lot: OpenStreetMap data, privacy first, and a hard stop at the limit instead of a surprise bill. The difference is what you may keep, and what that costs.
Competitor figures read from Stadia Maps's own pages on Nov 5, 2026; see the sources at the end.

| At the limit | Hard cap with HTTP 429; nothing billed | HTTP 429 by default; pay-as-you-go overage is opt-in |
| Static images you may keep | 100,000 a month included on Starter | "Cacheable" static maps cost 2,000 credits each (a normal static map is 20) |
| Storing geocoding results | Every paid plan | Standard ($80/month) and up; Starter allows temporary storage |
| After you cancel | Images and results stored while on a paid plan stay yours | The right to keep cacheable static maps lasts while you keep a paid subscription |
| Privacy area images (no exact pin) | Built in | Not a built-in option that we found |
| Routing, isochrones, navigation | No | Yes |
Worked example: 10,000 static maps you keep, every month
| Provider | What you pay | How |
|---|---|---|
| PinSharing Starter | $19/month | Up to 100,000 static images a month, kept indefinitely, even after you cancel |
| Stadia Maps Professional | $250/month | 10,000 × 2,000 credits = 20 million credits; Professional includes 25 million. Starter's 1 million credits cover 500. |
Stadia's credits also pay for tiles, routing and other APIs, so its plans buy more than static maps. Stadia has announced updated terms taking effect Nov 9, 2026.

Questions
Doesn't Stadia also stop at the cap?
Yes. By default Stadia returns HTTP 429 at your credit limit, and pay-as-you-go overage is opt-in. Both services protect you from surprise bills; we never offer overage at all.
What's a cacheable static map at Stadia?
A static map you may store and reuse. Stadia prices it at 2,000 credits per request, 100 times a normal static map, and the right to keep it lasts while you have a paid subscription.
Can I store geocoding results on Stadia's Starter plan?
Stadia's terms allow permanent storage of geocoding results on Standard, Professional and Enterprise. Starter allows temporary storage.
